I putting this picture together the other day, but without the funnel and poor choice of liquid levels it could have be viewed that I was putting Windex in the Powerade bottle. But that was because it was actually still Windex in the Windex bottle. But this time I emptied and cleaned the Windex out and actually filled the bottle with Powerade.
Anyway, I re-shot it with the funnel. Though, if I do it again, I'll clean the sprayer out a little more.

Aftermath - The comics are gone :-(
Here they are stacking my comic boxes up in the Maximum Van and empty dining room where they had been. There were a total of 17 long boxes and 13 short. All the Neil Gaimen titles (keeping) and The Walking Dead (which I'll be selling separably on Ebay) left me with 1 long box worth of comics.
I also kept the issues whose art work you can see left in the living room. Spash page from the Grendel / Batman crossover, Books of Magic showing the 3 page sequence where Tim sets free the thing to take away the wrecked car that his mother died in, and a page from The Children's Crusade where the two dead boy detectives take on the case.

Oh, I still have my Comic Trade collection
I've had it mentioned to me that I wasn't being completely honest about not collecting comics anymore. I actually stopped collecting single-issues, or "floppies" as they are sometimes called when I got back from Australia in 2009. I already had a large collection of trades editions, but that is when I officially became one of those 'wait for the trade' guys.
I mostly collect trade paperbacks as opposed to hard covers. My thoughts on the matter are that I like having the trades on the shelves. They look nice. They are easy to re-read - pick the whole story-line as one trade off the shelf as opposed to have to dig through a comic box for each issue, carefully take them out of their bag, gingerly read them and then put 'em back in the bag while trying not to have the tape touch the comic. I also don't mentally think of them as collectibles. I am not afraid to let other people read them or lend them out. I do have a number of hard covers and the thing I have against them is that I do kind of think of them as collectables and they cost more.
P.S.
The statue collection is already boxed up.
P.S.S.
Anybody want a copy of Fury? Bwahaha! Seriously though, I have one copy with the other games I worked on, but I just can't get myself to throw those extra copies away. Four years! I worked on that damn game for four years and those idiots ruined it. All it needed was a few more months and some intelligence at running the beta.

Comic Book Collecting Post Mortem
Well, it looks like the time has finally come. I am selling my comic collection. It isn't a good time financially to be doing so, but being out of work and selling my house means I could use the money and the extra space they would take up in storage. I am also completely sick and tired of lugging these boxes around the world Please note, as someone who has move to Australia and back, that "around the world" bit isn't an exaggeration.
As I said in the title, this post is my comic book collecting post-mortem. What follows is my general history of my collecting of comics and then an inventory dump. Jay from Maximum Comics is supposed to come pick them up tomorrow. I should note that I am keeping everything Neil Gaimen wrote, the rest of the "Miracle Man" series, "Alan Moore's Neonomicon", "Alan Moore's Writing for Comics", and the "Walking Dead" series.
I kind of started collecting way back in the 70's. I say, "kind of" because I was just a young kid and collecting meant buying them in the book store and stacking them up in my room. I would occasionally sell them in front of the BX (Base Exchange, the Air Force Base store in San Vito, Italy where my father was stationed) for 10 to 25 cents each. They only cost 25 to 35 cents at the time. The money I earned would go to buy new comics. I kept none of those comics unfortunately and shudder to think of the condition they would have been in.
Even before that, I somewhat remember my very first comic book. I remember being at the air port in Panama City, Florida when I was about 4. This was probably a year before we moved to Italy. My mother bought me a comic book to keep my occupied while we waited for what ever it was we were waiting for. I am pretty sure it was "The Defenders" #31. I just checked and I have a number of issues around #31 but not #31 itself. I distinctly remember Nighthawk landing in a park holding a brain in a bowl. In #32-34 there is something about a brain in a bowl, but not that scene exactly. As a four-year old, I loved Nighthawk's costume. It was dark blue, trimmed with yellow and a red cape. He also had this cool bird symbol on his chest. I begged my mother to make me a Nighthawk costume for Halloween. Unfortunately for me she managed to distract and avoid the issue long enough that my young mind forgot about it by the time Halloween rolled around..
My actual "serious collecting" began in the early 80's while I was in Jr. High School. "Herb's Play World" was near my house and "Page After Page" comics was on the 4 mile bike ride home if we went the long way. "Friendly Neighborhood Comics" (the sign just read "Comics") was actually the first comic shop in Vegas, but it was a bit further away and not a very friendly store (at least not to nerdy Jr. High kids).
When doing the inventory below, I used Comics Price Guide to look up the approximate values of the issues. I noted all the comics that I found whose condition range of 8 to 9.4 was listed at $10 or more. So the range of dollars you see in the notes for some comics is the 8 to 9.4 values. Granted this is just a guide estimate and I was using it to get a general idea of what might be worth something. A lot of the comics were worth their cover price and some even less than that. There were a lot of disheartening moments when I noted that comics that used to be worth a good chuck of change were hardly worth anything anymore. For example look at Alan Moore's "Saga of the Swamp Thing" issues and Frank Miller's "Daredevil" issues. Hey, remember when Lobo used to be the hottest character around in the 90's? Yeah, DC sure did milk him to death. But I remember when his first appearance in "Omega Men" #3 was a hot comic because of that popularity. There were also cases where I thought I had a comic that is worth something only to find that my collection skips that very issue. Note my "New Mutants" issues: 1-68, 94-97, 99-100. #87 is the first appearance of Cable ($60ish) and #98 is the first appearance of Deadpool ($180ish).
Anyway, what follows is a quickly done inventory of the collection pictures in the boxes above. I will note that there are two collection's here as I didn't bring everything with me Australia. I didn't merge them the two collections when I got back, so there were two separate inventories. The list below was merged in Excel. If you see a title listed twice that is why. Also Excel tried to convert some of my issue ranges into dates, "1-3" becoming "Jan 3," but I think I manged to fix that.
